Vancouver’s “hippie problem”

In the late 1960s Kitsilano was a centre for the Canadian counterculture. How did Vancouver respond? We tend to imagine a monolithic establishment pushing back against youthful rebellion–but there was more to the “hippie problem” than meets the eye.
